Role of Governance

Governance that puts children’s futures first

At PACE, strong governance starts with a clear purpose: helping every child thrive. Each school benefits from its own School Governing Body, supported by the expertise and shared ambition of the PACE Group. Governors work with school leaders to set high expectations, review progress and ensure that decisions and investment strengthen teaching, learning, safeguarding and wellbeing. This brings a sustained focus on what matters most to families: children who feel safe, valued and challenged to achieve their best.

Our improvement plans connect this ambition to everyday learning. The PACE Group Strategic Plan sets our shared direction; each school’s three-year strategic plan translates it into priorities for its own community; and its annual School Improvement Plan (SIP) identifies the actions, responsibilities and milestones needed to deliver them. Governors review the impact of these plans and hold leaders accountable for progress, helping ensure that improvement is purposeful, well supported and responsive to students’ needs.

Listening is central to this work. The views of parents, students and staff, alongside school visits and evidence of learning, help governors understand each school’s strengths and where further improvement is needed. Collaboration across PACE schools allows teachers and leaders to share successful practice, develop their expertise and broaden opportunities for students. Families join a school with its own identity and community, strengthened by the experience and support of the wider Group.

Our approach is grounded in The PACE Way: high aspirations, kindness and inclusion, curiosity and creativity, respect for UAE culture and global understanding, collaboration, and integrity. These principles connect our governance decisions with the experiences children have every day. Through shared commitments for students, staff and parents and families, we build a partnership in which children can achieve, belong and grow with confidence.
